Frequently Asked Questions
What is RainDay Deals?
RainDay Deals is a marketplace of weather-triggered discounts from local businesses. When the weather turns bad, deals automatically activate. Show up, scan the QR, save money.
How do deals get activated?
Each business pre-configures deal templates with weather triggers (rain, snow, extreme heat, or any bad weather). When the weather matches, the deal goes live for a set window of hours.
Is it free for customers?
Yes. There's no fee to sign up, browse deals, or claim them. You pay the business directly at the discounted price.
How much do businesses pay?
RainDay Deals takes 15% of the deal price as a platform fee. There are no monthly subscriptions. You only pay when a deal is redeemed.
How do I redeem a deal?
Click "Claim Deal" on the deal page. We generate a unique code and QR. Show it at the business — they scan to verify it's valid. Deals expire if you don't show up before the deal window ends.
Why magic-link sign-in instead of a password?
Passwords leak, get reused, get phished. Magic links are one-time, time-limited, and tied to your inbox. After your first sign-in you can add a passkey (Touch ID / Face ID / Windows Hello) for instant return visits.
Where does the weather data come from?
We poll Tomorrow.io and OpenWeather for real-time conditions in each market. Businesses can also send manual webhook triggers.
Which cities are supported?
Portland, OR is the launch market. Other Pacific Northwest cities are next. Want yours added? Tell us.
